Betting glossary You are requested to read these rules carefully as they constitute the basis upon which all transactions between us will take place.

RULE 1-ACCEPTANCE OF BETS
These rules are effective from 18th September 2007

Bets are accepted for horse race meetings held under the rules of the Jockey Club or their equivalent bodies abroad, provided that the results are published in the Racing Post. Bets are accepted for all NGRC greyhound meetings. Should there be any doubt as to whether a bet refers to horse racing or greyhounds, horse racing will be given precedence. All bets on horse racing will be settled on the official result unless specifically stated otherwise. If for any reason a bet is inadvertently accepted after the off and at a stage where the client could have an indication of the outcome it will be deemed void

We reserve the right to refuse the whole or part of any bet without giving an explanation.

RULE 2-TELEPHONE PROCEDURES
Telephone calls are answered with the word 'Blacks'. You should then state your name and account number followed by your instruction.

In the event of a telephone call being disconnected prior to our operator repeating the instructions it is the responsibility of the client to telephone again and confirm their instruction. Where a subsequent telephone call is not received the bet recorded will stand.

To assist in resolving any disputes all telephone calls are electronically timed and recorded.

RULE 3-ACCOUNTS
Statements of account are issued fortnightly, each alternative Sunday, to include bets up to the close of business that day. Clients are asked to settle their accounts promptly.
Blacks reserves the right to refuse bets and take any steps it wishes to recover any monies due. This may involve action through the courts. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that their credit limit is not exceeded and bets will be refused until such time that the agreed limit has been restored.

RULE 8-AMBIGUOUS BET INSTRUCTIONS
Should a selection be incorrectly given, the bet will stand provided that only one runner could possibly be intended. However, if an incorrectly given selection can conceivably be more than one runner the stake shall be equally divided between the runners concerned.

RULE 9-DEAD HEATS
In the event of a dead heat for first place, stakes will be divided by the number of selections that are involved in the dead heat. The divided stake is settled at full odds and the remaining stakes lost. A similar rule applies when a selection dead heats for a place, if the dead heat means that the number of placed selections exceeds the number normally payable under Rule 5.

RULE 10-BOARD PRICES
Bets selected at board prices are accepted in line with the current show at the time of placement with Blacks. In the event of an incorrect price being quoted or attributed, Blacks reserves the right to correct such errors by settling the bet at the price prevailing at the time of acceptance or at starting price whichever is greater.

RULE 11-FORECASTS AND TRICASTS
Computer Straight Forecasts are accepted in races of three or more runners. Forecasts will be made void if a non-runner is included. Tricast bets are available on all handicap races provided eight or more horses are declared to run and six actually run.
In tricasts containing a non-runner the total stake will be invested as a straight forecast on the remaining two selections in the order given. With two non- runners the bet will be made void.
If a tricast bet is accepted where fewer than four runners take part in the race, it will be settled as a Computer Straight Forecast on the selections nominated to finish 1st and 2nd, with the selection nominated to finish 3rd ignored.

RULE 12-ANTE-POST BETTING
Ante-Post bets are accepted all in run or not, i.e. stakes are lost if a selection does not run. Stakes are only returned on ante-post bets if the race is abandoned, race declared void under Jockey Club rules, or a horse is balloted out.

Where the same selection is backed to win two or more events in an accumulative bet a special price will apply regardless of the individual odds quoted. Vouchers confirming acceptance are sent to clients unless stake is under £20.

RULE 13-FOOTBALL
During the football season Blacks will offer a comprehensive list of matches taking place. The result of an individual match is settled on the score at the end of 90 minutes played. Singles and upwards will be accepted on football matches. If a match has started but is abandoned before 90 minutes play, that match will be deemed void. Only bets on the first player to score will stand so long as a goal has been scored. First Goalscorer bet stakes are refunded on any player who takes no part in the match or who comes on as substitute after the first goal has been scored. If an own goal is the official result for the first scorer this does not count for settlement purposes.
